Key Responsibilities

Seismic Processing Planning & Workflow Design

  • Design end-to-end seismic processing workflows by integrating acquisition parameters, geological objectives, and QC criteria to optimize imaging sequences and reduce interpretation uncertainty.
  • Define processing objectives through multidisciplinary collaboration and technical scoping aligned with exploration and development goals.
  • Conduct feasibility studies using test processing, velocity scans, and noise diagnostics to select suitable algorithms that improve signal quality and reservoir detection.
  • Customize processing strategies for vintage and multi-survey datasets by harmonizing geometries and statics to produce consistent merged datasets for basin evaluation.
  • Develop execution plans, schedules, and resource estimates to ensure timely delivery and cost control.

Seismic Reprocessing Project Management & Contractor Oversight

  • Oversee processing workflows using QC checkpoints, parameter testing, and iterative refinement to produce high-resolution seismic volumes for interpretation.
  • Apply advanced processing techniques including noise attenuation, deghosting, demultiple, and anisotropic imaging to improve subsurface clarity.
  • Validate contractor workflows by reviewing logs, QC reports, and intermediate outputs while coordinating technical review sessions to ensure compliance with standards and improve decision-making.
  • Manage seismic data transfer, integrity, and archiving using SEG standards and metadata protocols to ensure traceability and data security.
  • Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and petrophysicists to validate subsurface models and support data-driven decisions.

Subsurface Imaging Optimization (Velocity Modeling, Migration & AVO/RTM)

  • Build high-resolution velocity models using tomography, well ties, and geological constraints to improve depth accuracy and reduce uncertainty.
  • Generate and interpret seismic attributes such as RMS, sweetness, variance, coherence, and spectral decomposition for structural and stratigraphic insights.
  • Perform quantitative interpretation including rock physics modelling, AVO/AVA analysis, inversion preconditioning, and elastic property extraction for reservoir characterization.
  • Execute imaging workflows such as PSDM, Kirchhoff, Beam, and RTM using well logs, VSP, checkshots, and regional velocity trends.
  • Monitor KPIs such as cost per line-km, acquisition uptime, and processing turnaround to improve efficiency and reduce operational cost.
  • Support HSE compliance through safety audits, drills, and incident debriefs to maintain safe operations.

Technical Governance, Standards, Innovation & Contractor Management

  • Implement emerging geophysical technologies such as FWI, ML-based noise attenuation, cloud processing, and data analytics tools through structured trials.
  • Benchmark technical practices against global standards through professional engagement and peer review.
  • Establish and enforce seismic processing standards aligned with global best practices.
  • Drive digital transformation through automation of QC workflows and adoption of visualization dashboards.
  • Conduct contractor audits, capability reviews, and performance assessments to ensure technical compliance and quality delivery.

Team Leadership, Development & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Mentor junior geophysicists and interns to build technical capacity and ensure operational continuity.
  • Collaborate with drilling, geology, reservoir, and HSE teams for integrated subsurface studies.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and joint venture partners.
  • Promote performance culture through KPI tracking, appraisals, and recognition systems.
  • Represent the company in industry conferences, JV committees, and regulatory engagements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in geophysical operations within oil & gas exploration and production.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in advanced geophysical workflows involving seismic waveform interpretation for lithology and fluid analysis.
  • Experience in leading geophysical teams and large-scale seismic operations (onshore and offshore).
  • Experience in contractor management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of seismic acquisition, processing techniques, and geophysical survey methods.
  • Experience with modern geophysical technologies and innovation adoption.
  • Strong understanding of HSE principles and compliance requirements.
