Job Summary
Main Job Purpose
- The Site Electrical and Automation Manager will oversee the design, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical and automation systems within the manufacturing environment.
- The role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, operational safety, energy efficiency, and compliance with engineering and regulatory standards.
- The successful candidate will manage electrical infrastructure, automation systems, and control strategies while supporting productivity improvement and product quality enhancement initiatives.
- The position also involves troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, preventive maintenance oversight, technical team leadership, project execution, and collaboration with production and maintenance teams to maintain engineering standards and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure HT/LT electrical installations, instrumentation, and automation systems within the manufacturing plant are properly maintained through planned and autonomous maintenance activities aligned with the engineering maintenance roadmap.
- Drive efforts toward achieving zero production stoppages caused by machine breakdowns.
- Optimize repair and maintenance expenditure across operations.
- Improve machine reliability and operational efficiency.
- Enhance the technical knowledge and competence of technicians and plant operators.
- Guide engineering teams responsible for electrical maintenance programs at the Grandpass main office, Lindel manufacturing site, and company-owned bungalows to ensure safe electrical installations.
- Lead electrical safety audits, identify operational gaps, develop corrective action plans, and follow up on safety improvement initiatives across manufacturing locations.
- Work closely with engineering teams at Grandpass, Lindel site, and Unilever-owned facilities to maintain electrical safety standards at periodic intervals.
- Ensure electrical efficiency, safety, life cycle cost optimization, and reliability for new capital expenditure projects, including innovation, infrastructure development, and capacity enhancement projects.
- Evaluate existing HT/LT electrical distribution systems, prepare budgets for new investments, and execute improvement or expansion projects within approved timelines and budgets while maintaining safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Assess existing instrumentation and automation systems, plan investments, and execute enhancement projects without compromising safety, environmental, or operational standards.
- Implement adequate measures to prevent electrical injuries to employees, contractors, and visitors while protecting company property and the surrounding environment.
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives related to electrical demand management, alternative power sourcing, and minimization of distribution losses.
- Evaluate purchased electricity versus internally generated power and support generation-switching strategies to reduce operational costs.
- Conduct skill-gap assessments related to electrical safety and coordinate engineering training programs in collaboration with manufacturing managers, the factory manager, and HR Business Partner-SC.
- Maintain strong working relationships with the Local Electricity Board to improve power supply reliability and serve as the key contact for electrical matters.
- Ensure compliance with Unilever policies covering Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, Travel Safety, and Code of Business Principles.
- Manage contractual engineering services, including plant operations and maintenance activities, in line with Unilever contract management guidelines and local regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience working with HT/LT distribution systems.
- Automation certification with Siemens/Rockwell automation systems.
