Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist and understudy the Second Officer in onboard operations.
  • Support cargo operations, ballast operations, vessel stability activities, mooring operations, and ship security duties during watch periods.
  • Ensure the safety of personnel working under assigned supervision.
  • Maintain and oversee deck portable firefighting equipment and lifesaving appliances.
  • Support the completion and maintenance of onboard training records as directed by the Master.
  • Where required, serve as the nominated officer for the GMDSS station, including responsibility for associated tests and records.
  • Maintain the Recreational and Technical library onboard the vessel.
  • Carry out all lawful commands and delegated responsibilities assigned by the Master.

Requirements & Qualifications

The right candidate should:

  • Be a Nigerian seafarer.
  • Possess a minimum OOW Deck Certificate of Competency issued by any of the listed maritime agencies or authorities including Algeria, Georgia, Netherlands, Argentina, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Norway, Azerbaijan, Greece, Oman, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Belgium, Hungary, Peru, Brazil, Iceland, Philippines, Bulgaria, India, Poland, Canada, Indonesia, Portugal, Cape Verde, Iran, Romania, Chile, Ireland, Italy, Senegal, Croatia, Jamaica, Serbia, Cuba, Japan, Singapore, Cyprus, Jordan, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Korea Republic, South Africa, Denmark, Latvia, Spain, Ecuador, Lithuania, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Sweden, Estonia, Malaysia, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Malta, Turkey, Faroe Islands, Mexico, Ukraine, Fiji, Montenegro, Uruguay, Finland, Morocco, USA, France, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
