Job Summary

The role involves generating, analyzing, and interpreting geoscientific and economic data to support portfolio optimization, technical reviews, and decision-making processes. It also supports exploration portfolio management, non-operated projects, and new ventures activities while assisting the Assistant Manager in delivering technical and strategic insights.

Key Responsibilities

Geoscience Analysis:

  • Conduct seismic interpretation, mapping, prospect evaluation, and volumetric/resource assessments for portfolio opportunities.
  • Prepare analytical reports, presentations, and documentation to support decision-making for the Assistant Manager and Deputy Manager.

Portfolio Data Support:

  • Maintain and update portfolio datasets, dashboards, and technical documentation under the direction of the Assistant Manager.
  • Improve prospect maturity by ensuring risk and resource estimates are validated using up-to-date technical data.

Non-Operated Project Input:

  • Review technical reports from partners and provide feedback while identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Enhance Joint Venture (JV) performance through timely communication and follow-ups with partners.

New Ventures Screening:

  • Conduct technical reviews, basin analysis, and data integration for new venture opportunities.
  • Improve screening efficiency by maintaining timelines and reducing evaluation bottlenecks.
  • Reduce technical risk by cross-checking resource estimates against historical data and geotechnical benchmarks.

Stakeholder Engagement, Compliance, and Decision Support:

  • Deliver timely and high-quality decision support through strategic analysis.
  • Improve stakeholder trust by addressing feedback and tracking resolution rates.
  • Ensure compliance by supporting timely approvals, regulatory reviews, and audit follow-ups to prevent project delays.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related geoscience discipline.

Professional Certifications / Memberships:

  • Membership in professional associations such as NAPE (Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists) and NMGS (Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society).

Experience:

  • 4–7 years of experience in oil and gas exploration or geoscience roles.

Proven Experience in:

  • Seismic data interpretation, mapping, and petroleum systems analysis.
  • Non-operated joint ventures including technical assurance and partner engagement.
  • Economic assessments, farm-in/farm-out processes, and commercial case development for exploration projects.
  • Portfolio management and exploration economics (desirable).
  • Technical reporting in exploration portfolio management, risk and uncertainty assessment, and economic evaluations.
  • Use of digital tools such as Decision Space (Halliburton), Petrel (Schlumberger), Decision Analysis Tools (Palisade), and Basin Modelling tools including ArcGIS.

Additional Qualifications (Desirable):

  • Master’s Degree in Petroleum Geosciences or related field.
