Mission

• Manage radio network design and optimization activities across the Lagos Region network, covering Lagos and Ogun States, to ensure sufficient capacity and coverage for subscriber growth and increasing usage demands.
• Deliver high Quality of Service (QoS) to MTN subscribers from a radio access network perspective.

Description

• Oversee network optimization functions within the region to support capacity assurance, SLA KPI improvement, technology integration, and timely optimization activities.
• Work closely with planning and implementation teams to ensure the network can accommodate projected subscriber growth within the next three months.
• Support the proper integration and design of multiservice sites, including 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies, while ensuring strong inter-radio access technology performance.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of coverage areas and performance of all RAN nodes within the region and provide regular status reports.
• Monitor competitor activities through benchmarking and reporting processes.
• Coordinate customer complaint resolution activities alongside optimization vendors.
• Utilize optimization tools to identify network issues and implement solutions through detailed network analysis.
• Provide technical support to other departments on network and radio-related matters.
• Participate in the trial and deployment of new network features.
• Carry out routine coverage assessments using physical and virtual drive tests.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly network audits and analyses, resolving identified issues through optimization vendors while escalating relevant matters to other stakeholders when necessary.
• Monitor and analyze network performance and configurations to ensure regional KPIs align with performance targets.
• Continuously review traffic patterns, utilization, and subscriber growth trends to identify future capacity expansion needs.
• Prepare and load cell data required for rehoming sites.
• Evaluate and supervise optimization activities carried out by managed service vendors on MTNN radio networks.

• Manage regional radio network optimization and capacity assurance activities.
• Liaise with planning and implementation teams to support future subscriber demand requirements.
• Ensure optimization vendors continuously improve SLA KPIs.
• Support technology integration and multiservice site performance optimization.
• Maintain accurate knowledge of RAN node coverage and network performance.
• Monitor and report competitor network activities.
• Coordinate customer complaint handling with optimization vendors.
• Use optimization tools to identify and resolve network performance issues.
• Provide technical support on network and radio-related functions.
• Conduct deployment and testing of new network features.
• Carry out physical and virtual drive tests for coverage evaluation.
• Perform regular network audits, analyses, and issue resolution activities.
• Monitor network KPIs to ensure alignment with regional targets.
• Analyze traffic and subscriber growth for future expansion planning.
• Prepare and manage cell data for rehoming activities.
• Supervise managed service vendors handling MTNN radio network optimization.

Education:

• First Degree in Electrical / Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering or a related discipline
• Fluent in English

Experience:

• 3 – 7 years’ experience in a specialized area, including experience working with others
• RF Optimization, analysis, and solution implementation experience
• Experience working with GSM, WCDMA, LTE, or wireless telecommunications operators
• Experience working within a multi-vendor network environment
• Experience with Ericsson, Huawei, and ZTE equipment will be an added advantage
