The European Union created the Erasmus Mundus program in 1987 with the aim of promoting closer cooperation between universities in Europe. Through the years, the program expanded in reach to have a broadened framework.
One of the programs coordinated under its umbrella, the Erasmus Mundus IMAPP Scholarship, supports international students with the necessary funding wish to pursue Master’s degree in Advanced Methods in Particle Physics (IMAPP).
Partner universities will be hosting this scholarship scheme in France, Germany, and Italy, where the students will gain expertise in particle physics. Applications are currently open and interested candidates are invited to apply.

Tuition Fees in Europe
If you are an international student undertaking an academic program at a public university in Europe, the tuition fees you will pay typically range from 727 euros to 7,500 euros per semester. This is greatly dependent on the course of study. However, international students studying at private universities would pay higher amounts, around 6,000 to 15,000 euros per academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
The requirements that students must meet to be considered for this scholarship have been outlined below.
- The scholarship is open to students from all nationalities.
- Applicant must hold Bachelor’s degree.
- Final-year students can apply. However, they must submit their Bachelor’s degree before enrollment.
- Non-native English speakers are required to demonstrate English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS).
- Online interviews may be arranged for those without test results.

Scholarship Benefits
The Erasmus Mundus IMAPP Scholarship is a fully funded program that covers the recipients’ tuition fees for the entire duration of the program. Candidates receive generous monthly allowance for living expenses. Other benefits include coverage for travel costs to and between the host universities, assistance with housing costs, health coverage and reimbursement for visa application fees.
