EduCanada SICS Scholarships 2025

EduCanada Scholarship provides Canadian post-secondary institutions with the opportunity to host international students from a diverse range of countries. It offers students from post-secondary institutions $12,700 funding to cater for tuition and living expenses.

The aim is to strengthen and diversify Canada’s international linkages and partnerships by supporting students with short-term exchange programs for undergraduate and graduate studies or research. EduCanada Scholarship operated under the title; Study In Canada Scholarship is funded by Global Affairs Canada through the Academic Relations program. Canadian institutions interested in participating are encouraged to promote the program to their faculty, staff, and eligible partner institutions.

Institutions abroad interested in sending their students to Canada are encouraged to explore student exchange agreements with Canadian institutions. Students wishing to pursue short-term studies or research in Canada should review the eligibility criteria and contact their institution’s international office for application details. Canadian institutions are responsible for submitting applications for the scholarship on behalf of eligible candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, candidates must;

  • Have enrolled as a full-time student at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country
  • Be paying tuition fees to that institution at the time of application and for the full duration of the exchange.
  • Be nationals of;
    • Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan;
    • Europe: Turkey, Ukraine;
    • Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia;
    • Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda.

Selection Process

Study In Canada Scholarships

The scholarship committee will select candidates based on merit of the research or study to be undertaken in Canada. It also considers benefit to the Canadian institution, supervisor and peers. Priority will be given to candidates who have not previously received a scholarship under the Study in Canada Scholarships program.

Scholarship Benefits

The EduCanada Scholarship is awarded in varying cadres as outlined below:

For College, undergraduate or graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research CAD 10,200 will be awarded.

Scholarship worth CAD 12,700 is provided to graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for five to six months of study or research. In addition to the funds allocated to the recipients by DFATD, Canadian host institutions will receive CAD 500 per scholarship recipient to assist with administrative costs once the scholarship recipient arrives in Canada.

Scholarship funds should be dedicated to the coverage of:

  • Visa or study/work permit fees
  • Airfare for the scholarship recipient only via the most direct and economical route
  • Health insurance
  • Living expenses, such as accommodation, utilities and food
  • Ground transportation, including a public transportation pass
  • Books and supplies required for the recipient’s study or research, excluding computers and other equipment.

Application Procedure

  • The Canadian Institution you are enrolled in will submit the Scholarship application on your behalf.
  • Canadian institutions with trouble filling out or submitting the form are encouraged to email [email protected].
  • The application involves;
  • An institution registering/creating account on the Study In Canada Scholarship portal
  • They will complete an online application for each candidate and upload all required documents.
