Wellcome Early Career Awards offers funding to students seeking postdoctorate degrees from higher institutions in the United Kingdom. This scholarship is sponsored by Wellcome Trust for nationals of low or middle-income countries.
This scheme empowers early-career researchers to develop research to improve human life, health, and well-being. The intention is to make the beneficiaries capable of leading their independent research at the end of the program.
The program usually lasts five years, but may be less for some disciplines and may only be longer if held on a part-time basis. It offers full funding, salary and covers the research expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a PhD holder.
- Candidate should be early-career researchers ready to be leaders in research
- You should have an understanding of completing research in a responsible manner
- You must Possess research training in your field, and
- Have a good knowledge of research methodology and evidence of project delivery and analysis
Selection Process
The university will review each applicant’s research proposal, skills, experience, and research environment. The findings and assessment weightings will then be used during the interview stage.
Scholarship Benefits
When selected for the Wellcome Early-Career Award, you will be put on a salary for the duration of the program. There will also be up to £400,000 grant for research expenses.
