University of Ottawa Admission Scholarship provides financial for academically talented students to undertake Master’s and Doctorate studies in Canada. Canadian and international students are permitted to participate in this funding scheme which is a crucial part of their academic journey.

Under this scheme, financial aid will be provided for full-time students enrolled in eligible master’s programs. The value of the award varies depending on the program of choice, and each faculty independently determines conditions for scholarships for their program.

In light of the University of Ottawa’s mantra of recognizing exceptional achievements, the scholarship is designed to recognize excellence while providing financial support during the academic journey.

Tuition Fees

As is standard practice in higher institutions across countries, the tuition fees for undergraduate and postgraduate programs differ. The University of Ottawa charges students between $21,500 and $23,000 for their studies.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are eligible for the Admission Scholarship if they:

  • Are Canadian students, permanent residents, protected persons or members of a diplomatic corps
  • International students admitted into master’s or doctoral programs.
  • Have an admission average of 8.0/10 or higher.
  • Are ready to commit to full-time enrolment without interruption for the duration of the scholarship, covering 12 consecutive terms. This enables you to maintain the scholarship.

Scholarship Benefits

When selected for the University of Ottawa Admission Scholarship, you will receive educational bursary of $7,500 per year for Master’s program. For PhD candidates, the financial support awarded is $72,000 over four years and consists of two components:

  • An admission scholarship valued at $9,000 per year and paid in installments of $3,000 per term for the first 12 consecutive terms.
  • Financial support from your academic unit includes assistantship employment contracts or other internal scholarship sources. This component is a minimum value of $9,000 per year for four years.
