The Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, IOCB Prague, offers PhD scholarship to foreign students looking to further their studies in the Czech Republic. The Czech Government funds the IOCB Prague scholarship which is designed for talented and highly motivated students.
Candidates will have the opportunity to work on interesting projects in a first-class tutoring program and collaborate with leading research centers around the world as well as with important commercial partners.
PhD students must have an MSc. degree in life sciences or related fields, and be enrolled in a partner university. The successful candidates will be employed on part or full-time basis by IOCB and will receive a competitive salary that includes the scholarship. This scholarship will be available for students to take at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB) Prague, Czech Republic, and the following partner universities:
- UCT Prague
- Charles University (Prague)
- Masaryk University (Brno) – Faculty of Science
- Czech University of Life Sciences Prague
- Palacký University Olomouc
Eligibility Criteria
- This scholarship is open to students of all nationalities
- Candidates must be holders of MSc. degree in life sciences or related courses.
- Candidates must be holders of BSc. degree.
- Applicants must be independent, highly motivated, and capable of conducting innovative research.
- Applicants must apply for enrollment in one of IOCB Prague’s partner universities when selected.
Eligible Courses
The IOCB Scholarship in the Czech Republic applies to the subject areas outlined below.
- CHEM – organic and medicinal chemistry
- BIO – biochemistry, bioinformatics, molecular biology
- PHYS – analytical, physical, and computational chemistry
Selection Process
The scholarship selects candidates based on their academic background and research interests. It is also important for their interests and application to align with available projects, shortlisted applicants will be invited for face-to-face interviews.

Scholarship Benefits
As a recipient of the scholarship, you will receive a competitive salary, which includes scholarship from the university plus salary from IOCB.
