Humanitarian Scholarship at University College London 2025/2026

The University College London offers humanitarian scholarships to international students at serious risk and/or displaced by armed conflict at home. These scholarships provide candidates with the necessary financial support to pursue full-time Master’s degree studies at the prestigious UK higher institution.

The UCL Humanitarian Scholarship is fully funded. It will cover recipients’ tuition and give maintenance allowance of up to £20,000 to selected candidates to cover their accommodation and living costs for the course duration.

University College London awards this Scholarship to prospective students based on financial need and the recommendation of the UCL Humanitarian Scholarship panel. Applications are currently open, and candidates are welcome to apply.

Tuition Fees

UCL is a globally-rated institution whose students usually pay tuition fees ranging from £19,720 to £28,610 for undergraduate programs. Masters students at the institution are charged any amount between £29,800 to £65,500, depending on the course.

Eligibility Criteria

Outlined below are the requirements that applicants are expected to fulfill to be eligible for this Scholarship:

  • Candidates can be from any country outside the United Kingdom.
  • Candidate should not already be residing in the UK
  • Students should be classified as coming from a lower-income background.
  • Students should not already hold a master’s qualification or higher
  • Candidate should hold an offer for a Master’s program at UCL
  • Applicant must be at serious risk as a direct result of armed conflict and/or
  • Must have been displaced or forced to leave your home country within the last three years because of armed conflict and have sought international protection outside of the UK
  • Candidate should be eligible to pay the Overseas fee rate.

Selection Process

The Scholarship is awarded to prospective students based on financial need. Most importantly, the selection follows the recommendation of the UCL Humanitarian Scholarship panel. All postgraduate taught full-time programs are eligible except for distance learning and part-time Master’s.

Benefits of Scholarship

As a beneficiary of the UCL Humanitarian Scholarship in the UK, the award you are entitled to include full tuition fee coverage and a maintenance allowance of about £20,000 to cover accommodation and living costs. There are up to four scholarships available to be awarded to successful candidates. The benefits include allowance to cover the Immigration health surcharge, visa fees, and one return flight.

This Humanitarian Scholarship is tenable for only one year unless the full-time program is 2 years long. The UCL Humanitarian Scholarship may not be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards, or bursaries.

Application Procedure

  • Go to the International Master’s Awards page
  • You must first complete an admission application to UCL, including submitting referees.
  • After that, you can apply for the scholarship.
  • The UCL Student Funding Office will contact shortlisted candidates. They will ask you to provide evidence of financial need and proof of your Refugee Status or Humanitarian Protection as recognized by the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees.
