Budapest Metropolitan University offers partially funded scholarships through the Stipendium Hungaricum, to international students who wish to study in Hungary. This scholarship scheme is available for undergraduate and master’s studies.
The aim of this BMU program is to enable students from around the world to pursue a high level of education in the fields of social sciences, economic studies, and art. Recipients are guaranteed a tuition discount of about 500 euros per semester, which is 1000 euros/year.
Budapest Metropolitan University (BMU) is a private tertiary institution established in 2000 as the Budapest College of Communication. Its campus is situated in Budapest, Hungary. The university is renowned for practical learning and produces internationally recognized BBA and MBA degrees.
Tuition Fees in Hungary
As an international student in Hungary, the tuition fee you will pay to study at public universities in Hungary ranges from €1,200 to 5,000 per year for most degrees. However, it is between €12,000 and 16,000 per year for Medicine and Dentistry degrees.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements.
Bachelor’s Program
- Applicant must demonstrate academic excellence.
- Applicant must prove language proficiency (min. C1)
- In the case of Art and Design Programs, the professors should give a high rating for the design portfolio (min. 30/35).
- Candidate should have High school diploma (GPA above 80%)
- Candidate must demonstrate excellent performance at the Skype interview during the application process.
Master’s Program
- Applicant must demonstrate academic excellence.
- Applicant must prove language proficiency (min. C1)
- In the case of Art and Design Programs, the professors should give a high rating for the design portfolio (min. 30/35).
- Candidate should have Bachelor’s degree ( First Class)
- Candidate must demonstrate excellent performance at the Skype interview during the application process.
- The Admission Committee will make the final decision.
- The maximum number of scholarship winners is 30 students.

Scholarship Benefits
When selected for the Budapest Metropolitan University Scholarship, you will receive full coverage for tuition fees and monthly allowance of EUR 110 towards living expenses for the duration of the program. Recipients will also enjoy free accommodation (either a free dormitory place or a monthly contribution of around EUR 100). The scholarship includes health care services and supplementary medical insurance.
