Asian Development Bank, ADB, is sponsoring scholarships at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand for students interested in securing master’s degree. This is a fully funded scholarship scheme that affords candidates the opportunity to advance their careers in business, engineering, public health, and technology.
The ADB-JSP Scholarship covers tuition fees for the recipients and provides allowances for living expenses during the academic program. When beneficiaries have completed their studies under expert guidance, they return to their communities with valuable knowledge to enhance regional development. Candidates will be pursuing postgraduate studies at designated institutions (DIs) in the Asia and Pacific region in the following fields;
- Economics
- Business and management
- Science and technology.
Tuition Fees
The tuition fees that international students typically pay in Thailand range from $3,400 to $5,500 per year, for undergraduate programs. Postgraduate courses usually cost higher, so they are usually between $3,030 to $10,700.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicant must;
- Be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country
- Have Bachelor’s degree with great academic record.
- Be in good health.
- Provide evidence of proficiency in English.
- Have at least two years of full-time professional working experience (post-degree)
- Be at least 35 years old at the time of application.
- Agree to return to his or her home county after completion of studies.
Selection Criteria
The criteria for selecting beneficiaries to participate in this program are as follows:
- Based on academic merit.
- Applicants must have more than two years of work experience.
- Female candidates will be given preference.
- Preference will be given to candidates from low-income households. This means that;
- Family income should be not more than $50,000/yr
- Individual income should not be more than $25,000/yr.
Required Documents
- Degree Certificate
- Academic Transcript of 4 years of undergraduate degree program
- ADB-JSP Information sheet.
- English proficiency score (IELTS-Academic: 6 or AIT EET ≥ 6.0, TOEFL ≥ 550).
- Work certificate provided by the employer.
- Income statement. If married, please submit the spouse income statement; otherwise you should submit the parent income statement.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of this scholarship will receive full coverage for tuition fees, housing allowance or accommodation in the dormitory. The students will receive subsistence allowance, medical insurance, books, and it will handle the costs related to visa fees, airport taxes, luggage allowance, and economy class air travel.
The ADB Scholarship has provision for thesis/research allowance, which is meant to cover the scholar’s research expenditures as well as photocopying, school supply purchases, typing, and computer charges.
Application Procedure
- You should first request application forms from Asian Institute of Technology, AIT
- Applicants should indicate to AIT that they are applying for admission and would like to be considered for the ADB-JSP Scholarship.
- Submit the completed application form and required documents, including the ADB-JSP Information Sheet form, to AIT.
