Wizkid boasts about being able to start his own church

Popular actor, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally called Wizkid, has made a religious declaration that stirred debate on social media.

The Grammy winner took to microblogging platform, X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, June 20 and stated that he could start a church.

Wizkid, who dropped a series of tweets, wrote; “I could start a church if I wanted.”

Earlier, the 33-year-old Afrobeats star also declared that “Jesus is King” and “After God na God. No go whine.”

Seasoned Nigerian actor turned cleric, Yul Edochie, stirred controversy in January when he launched his own ministry.

The Nollywood star named his online church, Salvation Ministry, TSM, and took to all his social media pages to do the unveiling.

Sharing the church poster with his image, Yul wrote; “It’s time to answer the call of God Almighty. It’s time to do His work fully. To spread the true message of God. Tune in, and he transformed.”

CorrectNG recalls he had revealed in November 2022 that he was called to become a minister of God. He claimed he had received the instruction long ago, without taking steps to actualise it.

“I’ve had this calling a long time ago – actually, many years ago. But, I’ve always felt maybe the time hadn’t come, the time wasn’t right. But now, it’s very strong. I feel the time has come.

“God has blessed me in this life. By God’s grace, I’ve become one of the biggest, one of the most celebrated actors in the continent of Africa. God has taken me to a very high point in my career. I’m starting to realise God lifted me as an actor to where I am so that I can become one of his ministers”.
