We are fully behind Finidi George – NFF’s Ikpeba

Member of the Nigeria Football Federation technical committee, Victor Ikpeba, has said Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, has the full support of the NFF.

Finidi poor performance with the Nigerian national team has led to mounting calls for him to be sacked as the team held Bafana Bafana to a 1-1 draw and lost 2-1 away to the Cheetahs.

Following the unimpressive start to his reign as the coach in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the West Africans now languish in fifth position on the Group C table with three points from four games.

Ikpeba told SCORENigeria that the football federation chose Finidi to manage the African Champions in fulfilment of the wishes of Nigerians for a local coach.

According to the former Nigeria international, the 53-year-old tactician was found to be the best man for the job, so he will continue to enjoy NFF’s support.

“Nigerians asked for a local coach and Finidi was found to be the best man to lead the Super Eagles at this time. The technical committee chose the best in the interest of the country.

“Finidi will therefore continue to enjoy the full support of the NFF despite the recent results posted by the Super Eagles,” he said.
