Sir James McNeill Scholarship at Monash

Sir James McNeill Postgraduate Research Scholarship is a program hosted at Monash University in Australia. It is a fully funded scholarship designed to support international students pursuing master’s and doctoral studies.

Annually, the scholarship which is both environmentally responsible and socially beneficial provides financial aid of up to $52,352 which covers annual living allowance and a relocation allowance of $2,000. There is also a stipend for annual research which is $1,500.

The Sir James McNeill Postgraduate Research Scholarship (SJMN) was established in memory of the late Sir James McNeill, a long-time associate of Monash University. The scheme is funded by a private trust.

Monash University founded in 1958 is a public research university based in Melbourne, Australia. It is among the country’s most prestigious universities, named after prominent World War I general, Sir John Monash.

Tuition Fees

Domestic students at Monash University typically pay lesser tuition fees for academic program. However, ginternational students at the institution are charged around AUD 50,000.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be admitted to a master’s/ PhD program
  • Provide evidence of English proficiency
  • Not be holding or have held an Australian Government or Monash-funded Postgraduate Research Award for more than six months.
  • Be undertaking research that is both environmentally responsible and socially beneficial.

  • To receive one, you must complete an expression of interest and/or find a supervisor who agrees to supervise your research.
  • On the admission application form, indicate that you wish to be considered for a scholarship.
