CorrectNG (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use correctng.com and our related services, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have over it.

This policy is governed by the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. By registering an account or using the CorrectNG platform in any way, you confirm that you have read and understood this policy.

Who We Are

CorrectNG is a professional online job board platform operating in Nigeria, connecting job seekers with verified employers. For the purposes of data protection law, CorrectNG is the data controller responsible for the personal information collected through this platform.

What We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use CorrectNG. Below is a breakdown by user type.

🎓 Job Seekers

  • Full name and phone number
  • Email address (used as login)
  • Password (stored encrypted)
  • Career profile — work experience, education, skills, certifications, languages, and job preferences
  • Uploaded CV files
  • Applications you submit, including all data entered
  • Your account registration date and status

🏢 Employers

  • Contact person’s full name and phone number
  • Email address (used as login)
  • Password (stored encrypted)
  • Company name, company email, and office address
  • Verification documents — representative ID, Certificate of Incorporation, proof of address, and authorisation letter
  • Job listings you create
  • Applications received through your listings

📧 Newsletter Subscribers

  • Email address
  • Date of subscription
  • Subscription status (active or unsubscribed)
  • IP address at the time of subscription

🌐 All Visitors

  • IP address (collected automatically when you use the platform)
  • Browser type and device information (collected for security purposes on login)
  • Pages visited and general usage patterns via cookies
You choose what you share. Profile sections on job seeker accounts — such as skills, certifications, and languages — are optional. Only your name, phone number, email, and password are required at registration. The more complete your profile, the more information may be shared with employers when you apply.

How We Use Your Information

We use the personal data we collect only for the purposes described below. We do not use your data for any purpose incompatible with the reason it was originally collected.

Job alert newsletterSending job alert emails to subscribers who have opted in. Your email is used solely for this purpose.

Legal complianceMeeting our obligations under Nigerian law, including the NDPA 2023, and responding to lawful requests from regulatory or law enforcement authorities.

Who We Share Your Information With

CorrectNG does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share your information only in the limited circumstances described below.

Employers — when you apply for a job. When you submit an application through CorrectNG, the employer receives your name, email address, and all profile sections included in that application. From the moment of transmission, the employer becomes an independent data controller for that data and is solely responsible for how they store and use it. We encourage you to read any privacy notice provided by the employer directly.
Service providers. We work with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the platform — for example, hosting infrastructure and email delivery services. These providers process data only on our behalf, under our instructions, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Legal and regulatory authorities. We may disclose personal data to Nigerian regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies, or courts where we are required to do so by law, or where we have a legitimate reason to believe disclosure is necessary to prevent fraud, protect safety, or enforce our Terms.
No one else. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties for commercial purposes.
Important for job seekers: Once you submit an application, your data is in the employer’s hands. CorrectNG cannot control, recall, or delete data that has already been received by an employer. If you have concerns about how an employer is using your data, contact them directly.

Cookies

CorrectNG uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to keep the platform functional and to understand how it is being used.

Cookie typePurpose
Essential cookiesRequired for the platform to function. These keep you logged in, secure your session, and enable core features. They cannot be disabled without affecting your ability to use the platform.
Security cookiesUsed to detect and prevent suspicious login behaviour, including tracking failed login attempts to enforce account lockout protections.
Analytics cookiesHelp us understand how visitors use the platform — which pages are visited most, where users drop off, and how features are used. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

Most browsers allow you to control or delete cookies through their settings. Disabling essential cookies will affect your ability to stay logged in and use the platform normally.

Data Retention

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law.

Active accounts. Your account data and profile information are retained for as long as your account remains active on the platform.
Deleted accounts. When you request account deletion, we remove your profile data and login credentials from our active systems. However, certain records — such as application history and security logs — may be retained for a limited period for legal and security audit purposes.
Employer verification documents. Documents uploaded during employer registration are retained for the duration of the employer’s account and for a reasonable period after account closure for compliance purposes.
Newsletter subscriptions. Your email address is retained while your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, your record is updated to reflect your unsubscribed status but may be retained briefly to honour your opt-out preference if you are re-contacted.
Security logs. Login and security event records are retained for a limited period for platform security and fraud investigation purposes.

Security

CorrectNG takes the security of your personal data seriously and applies appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

Passwords are encrypted. Your password is never stored in plain text. It is hashed using a secure algorithm before being stored.
Login protection. The platform monitors for suspicious login activity and automatically locks accounts after repeated failed attempts to protect against unauthorised access.
Secure transmission. All data transmitted between your browser and CorrectNG is encrypted using HTTPS.
Access controls. Personal data and employer verification documents are accessible only to authorised CorrectNG personnel and only where necessary to perform their role.
Your responsibility: No system is completely immune to risk. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for notifying us immediately at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your personal data. Note that data already received by an employer through a submitted application cannot be recalled by CorrectNG.

You can request your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format where technically feasible.

Right to Object

You can object to certain types of processing, including receiving marketing communications or job alert emails. Unsubscribing from the newsletter at any time immediately honours this right.

How we respond: We aim to respond to all data rights requests within 30 days. In complex cases we may require up to 60 days and will let you know if this applies. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing certain requests.

Children

CorrectNG is not directed at children. The minimum age to register a job seeker account is 16 years. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16.

If you believe a person under 16 has registered an account or provided personal data to CorrectNG, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete the relevant information promptly.

Third-Party Links

Some job listings on CorrectNG direct applicants to external websites or email addresses operated by the employer. CorrectNG has no control over those external sites or the data practices of the employers or organisations that run them.

This Privacy Policy applies only to CorrectNG and our services. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any external site you visit, including any site you are directed to when applying for a job.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. When we make significant changes, we will notify registered users by email or by posting a notice on the platform before the changes take effect.

The date shown at the top of this page indicates when the current version came into force. Continued use of CorrectNG after an updated policy has been published constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
