Nwabali not coming back to Chippa United – Coach Louw

Chippa United goalkeeper trainer, Sean Louw, has revealed that goalie, Stanley Nwabali, will not return to the club.

Nwabali’s future with the South African side has been uncertain since he shone for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Louw told FarPost that the goalkeeper has gotten about 12 offers and he knows the 27-year-old would defiitely not be at Chippa next season.

The coach said; “On physical hard copy paper, I don’t know how many offers he has received, but verbally, he has around 10 or even 12 offers. He is definitely not coming back to Chippa next season.

“When [Nwabali] arrived at Chippa, he wasn’t very proficient with his footwork, unable to play from the back. However, he has improved his footwork significantly.”

CorrectNG reported earlier that Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali disclosed that the club is ready to allow him join a bigger club this summer.

The 27-year-old has been a subject of transfer speculation following his impressive performance for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON. He also made two penalty saves in the shoot-out against South Africa in the quarterfinals.

In light of his impressive performances, Saudi club, El-Ettifaq, Sky Bet Championship side, Queens Park Rangers and Kaizer Chiefs are among the clubs reportedly interested in the shot stopper.

Speaking to Idiskitimes.co.za, Nwabali said; “The transfer window is going to open soon, but for me, I wish to take a step forward; I don’t know if it will be South Africa or Europe.

“I played well for my club this season, they also wished me to go play in a bigger team. Even if it’s South Africa or Europe I will play. I’m not saying goodbye yet, most big teams are looking for me, and most people are looking for me.”
