Senior Investment Advisor at Obsidian Capital

The firm designs locally specialized, globally competitive, large-scale private-sector solutions to infrastructure challenges in middle Africa. Located in Lagos State, Nigeria, Obsidian Capital aims to transform the infrastructure landscape of middle Africa, particularly in renewable and sustainable power infrastructure.

Obsidian Capital is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Senior Investment Advisor to join its Wealth Management division. This role presents an opportunity to shape the investment philosophy, service offering, and market positioning of a young multi family office with global ambitions.

The position is both strategic and hands on, suited to an investment leader capable of operating in a lean environment and building structures from the ground up. The role is fast paced and demanding, requiring strong cultural alignment with the firm’s values. Knowledge of asset management, wealth management banking, structured finance, and basic accounting is critical.

Investment Strategy & Advisory

• Lead investment strategy and portfolio construction
• Develop and oversee the firm’s investment philosophy, asset allocation, and portfolio construction frameworks
• Oversee all investment strategies, ensuring an optimal portfolio of offerings, periodic product diligence, and continuous performance tracking
• Advise clients on investment opportunities across public markets, private equity, alternatives, real assets, fixed income, and cash management
• Monitor global markets, identify opportunities, and make recommendations aligned with client objectives
• Build and oversee risk management processes
• Develop the firm’s investment platform, establish relationships with external platform providers, and collaborate with Client Advisors
• Provide consolidated portfolio reporting to clients in a clear and simplified format
• Prepare research reports including daily newsletters and periodic research publications
• Support existing products and strategies and identify new organizations and strategies to enhance offerings

Relationship & Business Development

• Build relationships with global service providers and investment managers
• Establish partnerships with global and local investment managers, banks, custodians, and service providers
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients
• Represent the firm in client and prospect meetings and communicate the firm’s value proposition
• Support client acquisition through personal networks and industry visibility
• Collaborate with Client Advisors to define and communicate a clear value proposition
• Contribute to business development and new client relationship acquisition
• Grow Assets Under Management through delivery of strong client experience
• Collaborate with Investment Bank, Business Development, Marketing, Operations, Technology, and Compliance teams
• Support expansion of the firm’s presence across London, Lagos, Chicago, Abuja, and Dubai

Firm Leadership & Growth

• Refine the firm’s service offering and deliver operational excellence
• Establish investment governance frameworks, policies, and procedures
• Raise the firm’s profile through thought leadership and networking
• Contribute to building the firm’s brand and global reputation
• Mentor and develop junior talent
• Market the Obsidian Wealth Management proposition through media positioning and speaking engagements

• BSc Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
• MBA, CFA, CIMA, or CFP designation or equivalent qualification strongly preferred
• Minimum of 10 years experience in investment management within a family office, private bank, fund company, asset manager, or institutional allocator
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Proficiency in MacOS Keynote, Numbers, and Pages
• Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
• Proven ability to design and manage multi jurisdictional and multi asset class portfolios
• Strong investment research and analytical skills
• Thorough knowledge of financial products and the financial industry
• Experience preparing detailed investment research reports
• Strong global network of investment managers, banks, and service providers
• Experience advising Ultra High Net Worth clients and supporting business development
• Experience working with investment teams, asset managers, platform managers, and consultants
• Experience building or scaling an investment platform
• Experience supporting Client Advisors in growing books of business
• Experience conducting due diligence for investment strategies
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Result oriented and able to work under pressure
• Highly adaptable with entrepreneurial mindset
• Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
• Ability to work in a fast paced team environment with minimal supervision
