Job Summary
The hospital is recruiting a Radiographer who will report to the Head of Radiology Unit. The role involves conducting diagnostic imaging procedures, operating radiation equipment, ensuring radiation safety, and supporting patient diagnosis through imaging and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including MRI, CT scans, X-rays, Mammography, and Ultrasound
- Capture images of bones, organs, and tissues to aid diagnosis
- Operate radiographic machinery and ensure accurate radiation levels in line with established standards
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation
- Monitor patients during and after radiation procedures
- Obtain patient histories through interviews and secure patient consent prior to imaging
- Communicate diagnostic findings to primary physicians through reports
- Record and store examination results in compliance with Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality requirements
- Develop films and process digital images to produce high-quality radiographs
- Supervise radiography assistants and student radiographers
- Maintain electronic records and prepare comprehensive reports as required
- Attend relevant training to remain updated on treatment and equipment
- Observe and assess patient responses to treatment
- Foster patient cooperation and maintain professional relationships with patients and their families
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Radiography
- Completion of National Youth Service Corps or possession of exemption certificate
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years post NYSC experience
- Current practicing license
- Proficiency in Healthcare Management Systems
- Good knowledge of MRI scans is an added advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Highly motivated team player
