Job Summary
The Medical Officer is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and patient centred medical care. The role involves diagnosing medical conditions, providing treatment, and managing patient care while ensuring compliance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Job Purpose
- Provide safe, effective, and patient centred medical care through accurate diagnosis, treatment, and patient management
- Ensure adherence to clinical standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic results
- Make accurate clinical diagnoses and develop, implement, and review treatment and care plans
- Prescribe, administer, and monitor medications and therapeutic interventions in line with approved clinical guidelines
- Provide prompt medical attention during emergencies, acute illnesses, and critical clinical situations
- Monitor patient progress and adjust management plans when necessary
- Maintain accurate and timely patient medical records and documentation in accordance with hospital and legal requirements
- Collaborate with nurses, specialists, allied health professionals, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to maintain continuity of care
- Supervise and provide clinical guidance to junior medical officers, interns, and assigned clinical staff
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, case reviews, and handover processes
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, infection prevention protocols, and patient confidentiality requirements
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and professional development activities
- Escalate complex or high risk cases to the Lead Consultant or relevant specialists when necessary
Requirements & Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
- Full registration and a valid practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
- Minimum of two years post qualification clinical experience
- Completion of Housemanship and NYSC

- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision making abilities
- Knowledge of evidence based medical practice and clinical guidelines
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
- Strong documentation and record keeping skills
Working Conditions
- Shift based clinical duties including weekends and on call responsibilities when required
- Exposure to clinical risks associated with healthcare settings while following safety protocols
