Egbin Power Plc is one of the largest power generation companies in Nigeria and a major contributor to the country’s electricity sector. The power plant, located in Lagos, has an installed capacity of 1320 MW and is widely regarded as one of the largest single generating stations in Sub-Saharan Africa. Following Nigeria’s privatization exercise, the plant was acquired by Sahara through its power division, Sahara Power Group, with a long-term objective of deploying at least 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

The Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring the availability of required materials for the plant in the right quality and quantity.

Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of shipping, transportation, and logistics arrangements for all procurement activities
- Manage third-party logistics service providers
- Demonstrate good knowledge of INCOTERMS and apply the most suitable terms for transactions
- Maintain a good understanding of industry limitations and regulations
- Develop strategies to streamline logistics processes and reduce costs
- Execute logistics plans for inbound and outbound spare parts for scheduled delivery
- Assess and recommend suitable shipping methods, routing, or carriers based on cost and operational requirements
- Perform metrics reporting and data analysis to identify issues and opportunities for process improvement
- Ensure cost savings in logistics operations by exploring available tax exemption windows
- Liaise with relevant authorities for import clearances and statutory requirements related to procurement
- Evaluate proposals from freight forwarders to determine the most reliable and competitive importation and clearance options
- Build and maintain relationships with customs authorities, shipping and logistics agents, and port authorities
- Support automation and integration initiatives within the supply chain function
- Coordinate with transporters and freight agents to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Process permits for clearance of imported consignments and manage payment of duties and taxes
- Implement data protection policies and practices of the organization
- Ensure compliance with NDPR and other applicable data protection regulations
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments where required to manage risks during data processing operations
- Promote awareness and application of QHSE policies and departmental objectives
- Ensure awareness of the Integrated Management System standards (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018) and the implications of non-compliance
- Identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects, and impacts associated with job responsibilities
Requirements & Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation, or Engineering
- Postgraduate qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is an added advantage
- Minimum of seven years of experience in logistics, warehouse, or transportation operations
Skills and Competencies
- Technical knowledge of mechanical and non-mechanical materials
- Knowledge of supply chain management practices
- Market and vendor knowledge for contract management
- Understanding of supply chain management policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of taxation regulations, duties, and import policies
- Knowledge of contract and commercial law
- Quality management skills
- Ability to apply IT systems in contract management
- Strong time management skills
- Good negotiation and bargaining abilities
