Key Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, provide on site supervision of the Measurement While Drilling (MWD), Logging While Drilling (LWD), and Directional Drilling (DD) processes including tool preparation, data acquisition, log generation, quality control, and service delivery to the customer
- Understand the principles of Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) selection and aspects of DD performance and ensure BHA assemblies are completed as planned with correct make up torque, doping, and handling
- Ensure that all data presented to the customer is accurate, timely, and meets service quality standards
- Provide technical consultation and advice to customers using DD software, well path projections, well profile plots, survey calculations, and accurate directional survey data according to client procedures
- Test all tools and equipment before, during, and after each job and identify and correct operational problems to minimize service impact
- Work with RDC engineers to complete required forms, databases, and reports including service vouchers, lost or damaged equipment records, radiation site surveys, End of Job Customer Survey report, and First Alert Database or Correction, Prevention and Improvement records
- Interface with the Remote Drilling Coordinator and or Directional Driller to ensure BHA compatibility, operating parameters within specification, correct tool face references, and proper toolface control during well operations
- Assist RDC in completing daily DD reports, BHA performance reports for each run, service tickets, and required documentation including well data spreadsheets and lessons learned or best practice reports
- Maintain records of all DD equipment at the well site including dimensional data and equipment condition, and ensure equipment is laid out according to company procedures and prepared for backload at the end of the job
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives when required
Requirements & Qualifications
- Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent
- An undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline is required
- Completion of the basic M/LWD and DD training programs
- Minimum of one year of experience in LWD and DD operations, preferably including experience as a Field Service Specialist I
- Must possess or be able to obtain relevant onshore or offshore safety certificates
