Key Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, provide on-site supervision of the Logging-While-Drilling (LWD) process, including tool preparations, data acquisition, log generation, Quality Control (QC), and service delivery to the customer
  • Serve as the lead engineer on most jobs
  • Ensure all data presented to customers is accurate, timely, and meets the highest service quality standards
  • Provide expected and necessary data and highlight possible issues to customers
  • Provide technical consultation on mud hydraulics, Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) planning, formation evaluation, drilling tendencies, mud systems, and BHA dynamics
  • Test all tools and equipment before, during, and after each job
  • Identify and correct operational problems to prevent or minimize service impact
  • Complete required forms, databases, and reports accurately, including service vouchers, lost/damaged equipment reports, radiation site surveys, End of Job Customer Survey (EJCS), First Alert Database (FAD), and Correction, Prevention, and Improvement (CPI) reports
  • Ensure BHAs are assembled as planned, including correct make-up torque, doping, and handling
  • Follow customer requirements regarding directional survey procedures
  • Interface with the Directional Driller (DD) to ensure BHA compatibility, planned operating parameters, and correct tool face references
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives as required

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of one year of field experience in M/LWD
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline preferred
  • Completion of basic M/LWD training program
  • Successful completion of company tests or meeting task guideline requirements
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude to required standards
  • Good communication, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills
  • Ability to read and interpret formation well logs, directional survey information, and other well site data
  • Possession of relevant onshore and offshore safety certificates
  • This is a field-based position
