Job Summary

The Field Operator is responsible for carrying out field operations, monitoring equipment, and supporting plant activities in line with approved procedures. The role involves data collection, maintenance support, safety compliance, and coordination with the Control Room Operator to ensure efficient and safe plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform observations and data collection on local control panels, electrical and mechanical equipment, and instruments within assigned systems
  • Assist operations in other units during heavy workload or absence of another field operator
  • Carry out local operations as instructed in line with approved procedures and HSE standards, including contractor-related activities
  • Perform preventive and primary maintenance of equipment and prepare facilities for corrective maintenance
  • Open PTW on site, ensure job descriptions align with JSA, verify LOTO points and zero energy state, and confirm worker understanding before proceeding
  • Prepare LOTO list for process equipment, obtain verification, and execute equipment preparation and LOTO
  • Communicate with Control Room Operator before performing field operations
  • Detect and resolve equipment faults where possible and report unresolved issues
  • Support analysis of operating modes and updates to operating procedures
  • Participate in equipment testing and trials
  • Assist in sampling for chemical analysis, environmental testing, and predictive maintenance
  • Ensure equipment isolation during emergencies and support firefighting and rescue operations
  • Coordinate with Control Room Operator and maintenance teams for equipment preparation
  • Collect and log operating data as required
  • Support incident analysis and report development
  • Participate in safety training, on-the-job training, and firefighting exercises
  • Ensure proper shift handover and remain at duty post until relieved
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned areas
  • Handle chemicals in line with MSDS and company procedures
  • Promote a positive work environment and report inappropriate behavior
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in any Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in process plant operations, including at least two years in field operations
  • Knowledge of pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, absorbers, and metering systems
