Job Summary
The Completions and Intervention Engineering Manager provides strategic and technical leadership in the design, planning, and execution of well completions and intervention operations to support safe, cost effective, and reliable well delivery. The role covers engineering assurance, rig intake and readiness, team development, and compliance with company standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. The position supports improved well productivity and reservoir recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Well Engineering Review and Operational Validation
- Review and approve completion and intervention designs and programs
- Validate engineering calculations, tool string designs, and risk assessments
- Ensure proper selection of equipment, materials, and fluids for long term well integrity and performance
- Confirm rig capability, operational readiness, and technical integrity of equipment
Team Leadership and Performance Management
- Lead and mentor completion and intervention engineering teams
- Support competency development, succession planning, and performance evaluation
- Drive technical assurance and performance improvement
- Manage manpower planning to ensure adequate engineering coverage
Well Safety and Compliance Oversight
- Promote HSE compliance across completion and intervention programs
- Support well control, integrity, and barrier assurance activities
- Ensure compliance with company well engineering standards and regulatory requirements
- Lead incident investigations and promote lessons learned across the organization
Cost and Performance Monitoring
- Support cost optimization while maintaining operational reliability and well productivity
- Manage AFE and cost control for well projects
- Monitor and analyse well KPIs including NPT, ILT, cost per job, and efficiency index
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Work with subsurface, drilling, and production teams to align well objectives
- Engage service companies, contractors, and vendors to support service quality
- Represent completions and intervention functions in asset planning and management meetings
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering such as Petroleum, Mechanical, or related discipline
Required Professional Certification
- SPE or IADC accredited completion design training
Experience Requirements
- 15 to 20 plus years experience in well engineering
- At least 7 to 10 years experience in completions and intervention
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a leadership role managing completions and intervention engineering
Proven Experience In
- Rig and rigless based completions and intervention operations
- Well integrity restoration and production enhancement projects
- Managing multi rig programs in land or offshore operations
- Cost optimization and contractor performance management
- Sand control, HPHT completions, onshore operations, multilateral, and intelligent well systems
Additional Qualifications (Optional)
- Master’s degree in Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering
- PMP certification
- Experience with digital completion design tools and advanced well monitoring systems

- Fluids and materials selection knowledge including brines, elastomers, and metallurgy
- Understanding of drilling and completion interfaces such as casing design and wellhead equipment
- Contractor and service company technical evaluation
