Job Summary
A Hydraulic Specialist is responsible for operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems for FLS Coolers, IKN Coolers, Loesche VRM, and OK Mills. The role involves applying knowledge of fluid mechanics, physics, and engineering principles to analyze and develop solutions for bulk material handling equipment such as stacker and reclaimer systems, as well as kiln clinker cooler hydraulic systems.
The position supports planning and implementation of hydraulic engineering projects to ensure efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability. It also requires exposure to cement plant equipment including stacker reclaimers, raw mills, kiln coolers, and cement mill general maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic system problems including stacker luffing and hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic hose, directional control valves and proportionate valve, cooler hydraulic drives, and VRM hydraulic system
- Conduct feasibility studies, troubleshooting, and assessments to determine the viability and potential impact of hydraulic faults
- Collaborate with engineers and professionals to develop hydraulic designs and engineering plans to improve equipment reliability and optimization
- Identify and evaluate risks and hazards associated with hydraulic systems and implement appropriate safety measures
- Perform hydraulic calculations, simulations, and modelling to predict equipment behaviour and performance
- Oversee construction and installation of hydraulic systems while ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards
- Conduct inspections and assessments of existing hydraulic infrastructure and recommend maintenance or repair actions
- Carry out research and stay updated on developments in hydraulic engineering technologies and methodologies
- Manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to support plant operations
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Hydraulics Training, Hydraulics Special Course, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred
- Above 15 years of experience in cement plant hydraulics operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Proven experience in hydraulic engineering, especially in design and maintenance of hydraulic systems
- Knowledge of hydraulic circuits, hydraulic notations and symbols, and relevant software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and SAP Module
- Strong mathematical and computational skills
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessment processes and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in project management and working with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
